- What are you thoughts on the article? Do you agree or disagree with the information?
- What connections can you make between your blog response and this article? If you thought it had nothing to do with CTE, have you changed your mind? Why or why not? If you thought it might, does this article reaffirm your belief? Explain.
I neither agree or disagree with the article because he had always lived a life of trouble. He was a gang banger and never left that life behind even when he progressed into the NFL. I have not changed my mind because i think the Aaron Hernandez has always lived rough life, a life that he couldn't leave behind.
ReplyDeleteI think the article is a relevant article that shouldn't be overlooked,it's a major controversial question that needs to be answered because this disease is doing so many people and families wrong. This article and my blog both have made me think more if CTE does lead so horrific tragedies like Hernandez's murder/suicide.This article did reaffirm my belief that CTE might've been a factor for Aaron Hernandez's actions.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think there is a legitament argument presented here. CTE as we know from class causes increased aggression and depression and most NFL players have CTE because getting hit in the head repeatedly is what the NFL is about. Not to mention the fact that not just Aaron Hernandez was violent but several other players and not to mention the hundreds of players that are convicted with violent crimes such as assult. So yes I would agree with this information and that we need to investigate further into CTE to determine the effects. Yes this just reaffirmed my belief I made the connection to increased depression and memory loss in my blog which could have led Aaron to suicide. This article could just be evidence for my blog because they state about the same information.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the part that Aaron may of had CTE i do think he did have it but i don't think that is what led him to commit these crimes.
ReplyDeleteI said in my blog i believe he had CTE also but i think its because of the people he grew up with and continued to be associated with after being drafted. This article makes me believe Aaron had CTE but not that it drove him to kill. There is good people and bad people in every type of profession and hes one of the bad ones who got caught for what he did all over someone pouring a drink on him in a bar. Killing Odin Lloyd.
I can't say I agree or disagree, I don't think that their is enough information to really say it's CTE but then again I wouldn't be surprised if that's a cause in why these men are acting the way that they are. One thing that got me thinking though was when it asked if these were just violent men who happened to be football players. I would more agree with that because it's only 3 players which is a very small number out of all the NFL players. I still wouldn't be surprised if CTE has a part in the issue. I kind of changed my mind but I am not completely outing the CTE problem and it's link to violent behavior. Like I said earlier these athletes could just be violent men who happen to be football players and a lot of athletes grow up in bad parts of their city where violence is more likely. Maybe their just used to it and acted like where they're from. I don't know, but I would go with their background before I go with CTE.
ReplyDeletei think that this article presents relevant information about how CTE could have effected Aaron Hernandez because his actions do relate to the symptoms of CTE. i think its still hard to tell because he was still symathetic towards his daughter and his fiance in his trial but that all could have changed so i think he might have had an early stage of CTE but i wouldnt be able to say for sure. in my own blog post, i said i didnt know much about the man and his past so its hard for me to build an argument about him.
ReplyDeleteTo a certain extent, I agree with the article due to the fact that CTE does lead to violence and things of that matter. On the other hand, Aaron Hernandez was a troubled individual from the beginning. He was getting in trouble in years before he joined the league. He chose to hang out with the people he did so that ended up being a negative choice due to being led down the wrong path. I have not changed my mind on the fact that Hernandez was a person who had many issues going on. This article had very valid points referring to what CTE could do to you and what it has done to others but he is in a different pool because of his rocky past.
ReplyDeleteThis article didn't do much to my opinion but just gave me more of a reason to question the National Football League. I think that Aaron Hernandez committed murder because of all of the concussions he has had through-out his life. Due to the concussions I think that Hernandez suffered from CTE and that drove him to commit a murder and then take his own life.
ReplyDeleteI think that football can cause CTE which can lead to a persons disrupted health. But i would't blame football for being the reason some players murdered another. You can get concussions anywhere anytime, so really if you get a concussion in a car wreck then you can be diagnosed with CTE. I think that CTE has a part of the person's thought process of killing but it's mostly the intentions from where they come from. People from any sport can be a criminal or murder one another so you can't just blame football.
ReplyDeleteWell i agree in a sense CTE could have had a major role in why he might have committed suicide.
ReplyDeleteWell i can say that it agreed a hundred percent to my blog i thought that CTE could have had a major role with how it effects the brain in several ways.
I think this article tries to get straight to its point in the beginning, but then it goes slightly off topic when it starts talking about what CTE is, but then it gets back on track again after it brings up the other NFL players and their cases, and how they all were charged in some way or another, for assault/battery.
ReplyDeleteI still don't think that these incidents have to do with CTE because a lot of football players come from backgrounds where violence is at a high level, and that they could be acting how they do know because they were basically brought up this way and are just now having this violent side show.
This article had a lot of good points about CTE correlating with Aaron Hernandez death. I don't think it was just a coincidence that they found other players like it was talking about in the article who had CTE and were found committing murder. It is hard for many people to accept it because nobody could see what Aaron Hernandez was going through and if he really had pain which he wasn't mentioning. Everyone would assume he was fine because there are a lot of NFL players who do this kind of stuff. But besides that CTE could of not been a factor in all these problems with Aaron Hernandez and it could just be the person that he is especially of what he went through with his mother dying.
ReplyDeleteI think football contributed to the murder but at the same time, I think it was his own personal choice. He has been playing football since he was a little kid and he could've had a history of concussions and still played. In the NFL, he did suffer a few concussions while playing for the Patriots. In 2012 when he got his concussion, it did start a problem and a few months later, he killed 3 people and got sent to prison. Overall, football contributed but his murder was his own choice.
